The Historic Dockyard Chatham is one of Kent's top tourist attractions. Set in an 80 acre estate, it offers stunning historic architecture, historic ships and museum galleries.
Having our offices in the Dockyard, we really threw ourselves into this project as we love our surroundings and it felt personal. We were asked to create a content managed site which reflected the Dockyard's current marketing literature and allowed room for growth and the constant change of events happening here.
We decided to create a banner area right at the top of the homepage which could either randomise between selected banners or just display one to advertise the upcoming event at the Dockyard. This is a great area to highlight what's going on as well as making the homepage look interesting and different when you visit it frequently.
The site offers an interactive map so it's easy to see what attractions are available and where they are. We tried to put in as many pictures as possible - especially in galleries so people can see what the boats and buildings look like. The sections on the right hand side allow cross selling of information - allowing you to jump from one area of interest to another.
