Usability and accessibility
The key to success using the
Internet as a means of communication is usability.
Everyone has come across doors that open in
unexpected ways, photocopiers that work according to some strange
alien logic and computer software that behaves as if
assembled with a shovel!
We consider usability design as paramount.
Usability of your website also includes ensuring it meets
with World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standards and the Disability
Discrimination Act which now requires website compliance with
the Act.
Excellent usability can also positively
improve search engine rankings by being more friendly to
their 'robot software'.
So in designing the website we will pay much
attention to:
- Affect - how much the website
captures the user's emotional responses;
- Control - the degree to
which users feel they, and not the website, are setting
the pace;
- Efficiency - the degree to
which users can achieve the goals of their interaction with
the website;
- Helpfulness - the extent to
which the website seems user-friendly;
- Learnability - the ease with
which users can begin learning to use the features of the
website.
